Since 2016 to the present, Eric Cotten and the BFC have facilitated the creation of:
1) Over twenty – one short films
2) Two eight weeklong programs focused on teaching the Meisner method of acting.
3) Over fifteen on set skill training and teaching experiences.
4) Prior to the onset of the pandemic, the BFC supported a monthly screening program at the
Creative Alliance in association with the Charm City Film group.
5) Several BFC sponsored short films have been selected for multiple international and national
film festivals, including Toronto Black Film Festival, BronzeLens, Maryland Film Festival and
numerous others.
6) The creation and expansion of the annual BFC sponsored Pitch Competition is now a stable of
the highly regarded Maryland Film Festival week of events. Cash awards are given for the top
three 90 second elevator pitch, which are evaluated by three nationally accomplished
writers/directors. To date, over $13,000.00 has been awarded to local creators.
7) The BFC and Eric Cotten directly has volunteered to mentor students from Towson, Stevenson,
MICA/Hopkins and other film programs, in addition to many non- academic young adults.
The Baltimore Filmmakers Collective has been the beneficiary of generous grant support from the
Baltimore Office of Promotions of the Arts, Maryland State Arts Council, The Black Arts District and
private donations.
In kind support has been provided by the Morgan State University, SNF Parkway/Maryland Film Festival,
Creative Alliance, Motor House and numerous private organizations.
Funding grants provided by the BFC have totaled over $120,000.00 in
amounts of $2,000.00 to $9,000.00 and $50,000 for feature productions
or in-kind contributions.
Future programs are in development and will focus on script and crew
skill training and education including:
A) How to develop a short script- from concept to final draft
B) Acting classes
C) Roles on a crew including:
1) Script supervisor
2) Production manager
3) Production assistant
4) Gaffer
5) Grip
6) Sound tech
7) First A.D.
